心胸像山谷一样深广。形容为人谦虚豁达，善于听取他人各种意见。这被认为是取得大成就的人以及领导者应该具备的良好品质。具备这种品质的人，能够接受各种意见甚至是批评、反对的声音，这样可以及时改正自身缺点或修正决策失误，吸引更多的人归向自己，使自己获得更多支持。此与“厚德载物”“有容乃大”相通。
